Burnley have announced the signing of winger Jeremy Sarmiento on a season-long loan from Brighton.

The 22-year-old spent the second half of last term on loan at Ipswich, helping the Portman Road club secure promotion to the Premier League.

He told the club site: “I’m really excited, it was a big decision as the next step was really important for me.

“I felt that the project Burnley are building at the moment suited me. I spoke with the manager and just wanted to be a part of it.

“Once we had the conversations, it was a no-brainer for me to come here and achieve the objectives we have set.”

Madrid-born Sarmiento began his youth career in Charlton's ranks before heading to Benfica in 2018.

He returned to England un the summer of 2021 to join Brighton and was named the Seagulls' Young Player of the Season in his first campaign down South.

The wideman spent the first half of last term at West Brom before heading to Portman Road, scoring a vital winner against promotion rivals Southampton.

Sarmiento represented England between Under-16 and Under-18 levels and has since become an established international for Ecuador.

He bolsters Scott Parker's wide options following the departures of Wilson Odobert and Anass Zaroury.
