Balazs Toth believes a move to Blackburn Rovers is the biggest step of his career and is keen to establish himself as the number one goalkeeper.

The Hungarian shot-stopper becomes Rovers' first signing of transfer deadline day, ending their summer-long search for Aynsley Pears' competition.

Toth enjoyed a fantastic campaign in the Hungarian top-flight last season and having spent all of his career in his native country, he views this as a massive opportunity.

"I'm very happy to be here and I'm very excited to work with the coaching staff and seeing the fans," he told RoversTV.

"When my agent called me, two days before, I couldn't believe it. This is the biggest step in my life. I feel like I'm starting my career today, I have come here to be the number one goalkeeper.

"To be honest, yesterday (Wednesday) I heard at around 7pm that I could travel to England. Around 8pm we flew to Dusseldorf. We slept there and then in the morning flew to Manchester. I didn't sleep much, two hours maximum, I was very nervous!

"My biggest dream is to play in the Premier League but I couldn't imagine that one day I'd play here in England. This is a very big opportunity for me. It's an unbelievable opportunity, Blackburn Rovers is a very big club, a Premier League winner so everyone in Hungary knows about them."

Toth started his career, as so many do, as a centre-forward. He revealed his off-the-cuff personality saw his coach direct him in goal, suggesting he might be a big character for the dressing room.

"When I was four, I started to play football and I was a striker," he explained.

"Then at eight, I was a goalkeeper and my coach told me I had to do that because I'm crazy.

"I can be crazy on the pitch and sometimes my team-mates say that to me. I can do that in the dressing room also.

"I like to play the ball with my feet and I think I have good reactions. These are things I like.

"I played a lot of games in Hungary, I played at the Ferenc Puskas Academy. I was there 14 years. Last year was very good for me and for the club so now I'm very happy to be here."
