Blackburn Rovers have completed the signing of Lewis Baker on a season-long loan from Stoke City.

The midfielder has been a target for Rovers this summer, with John Eustace keen to bring the former Chelsea man to the club.

The Potters have now sanctioned a loan deal, which essentially ends his time with the club. Baker is out of contract in the summer and so will be a free agent in 2025, having made 92 appearances for Stoke.

The 29-year-old is the first of what could be several deals in the final 24 hours of the transfer window. Goalkeeper Balazs Toth will sign soon with his deal close to completion.

A deal for Rangers attacker Todd Cantwell is progressing and there remains confidence that will be completed before Friday's 11pm deadline. Any new signing has to be registered with the English Football League, albeit not announced, by the 12pm.

A winger is also sought after. Brighton & Hove Albion winger Amario Cozier-Duberry is the likeliest arrival but there is fellow Championship interest in his signature. Rovers will be hoping their positive relationship with the Seagulls pays off.

Harrison Ashby isn't joining Rovers, though. The Newcastle United right-back was of interest but he looks set to join Queens Park Rangers instead. In truth, it was bottom of the priority list for Rovers.

Jack Vale is the only first-team player set to leave. The striker is rejoining Motherwell in what is expected to be a loan move. He's out of contract in the summer but has a one-year option in his deal.
