John Eustace was coy on whether Harry Pickering or Danny Batth will be available for Blackburn Rovers against rivals Burnley this weekend.

Both players came off against Blackpool on Tuesday night after picking up knocks in the game. Pickering suffered a minor back spasm whilst his team-mate has an unspecified muscle issue.

Eustace says the medical team are still assessing their fitness levels and they will be monitored ahead of the weekend's game.

"They're going to be touch and go for the weekend, unfortunately," he said.

"They are with the medical team at the moment and we are assessing them. We'll have to therefore see whether they're available or not."

Rovers have Owen Beck ready and available to step in for Pickering if the left-back doesn't make it. However, given the nature of the match, Eustace will certainly want the experience defender available.

Scott Wharton played with back spasm issue last season at Leeds United and so, the hope is Pickering will be fit to play.

Any new signings must be registered with the EFL by 12pm on Friday. If they're fit enough, Eustace didn't rule out including them in the squad, though that would be on the bench at best.
