Jake Batty has joined Accrington Stanley on a season-long loan from Blackburn Rovers.

The young left-back is in needs of regular game time and after the signing of Owen Beck, Rovers have sanctioned a move to their near neighbours.

This is Batty's first loan move away from Ewood Park and he'll hope this will kickstart his progression into the first team. After a promising Academy career, including caps at England youth level, Batty hasn't yet established himself in a first-team environment.

Head coach John Eustace believes that this is the perfect move for Batty and will put him in a position to challenge for a first-team place next season.

"Jake needs to go and play regular first-team football," he said.

"We feel Accrington is a really good level for him to go in and express himself and get those games under his belt.

"When he comes we hope he'll be ready to really compete for a first-team place at Blackburn.

"We needed Jake as cover for Pickering but we felt it was most important for him to go out and get lots of games under his belt.

"We think he can go and do that then come back and really compete for the first team next season."
