John Eustace was tight-lipped on any imminent arrivals at Blackburn Rovers with several deals in the works before Friday's 11pm deadline.

Rovers have struck a deal for Hungarian goalkeeper Balazs Toth. He is expected to undergo a medical on Thursday before being announced as a Blackburn player, probably on deadline day.

Todd Cantwell is another deal that is moving in the right direction, whilst a winger and central midfielder are also desired. Brighton & Hove Albion's Amario Cozier-Duberry is another player they like but there is plenty of Championship interest in the winger.

With plenty going on, Eustace was not too forthcoming on an update ahead of a busy end to the window.

"There's nothing at the moment, the recruitment team are in discussions with a number of players and we'll have to see what happens," he said.

"I don't believe anyone is having a medical, that I'm aware of. I think the most important thing is that we get the right players in.

"If there are any that come in and we think they can play and they beat the deadline, then great. If not, it's most important we get the players in before the transfer deadline.

"The club are trying their hardest and they're working their socks off. I am happy with that."

Toth is an unknown at Championship level, which brings risk but also plenty of excitement. Yuki Ohashi and Makhtar Gueye have already shown the quality that can be found outside of the domestic leagues.

"If they're good players, they're good players," Eustace said on whether he preferred known quantities.

"It is very important we have that knowledge in the Championship, without a shadow of a doubt.

"That knowledge can then be passed on to those players that don't have that. It's about getting the right blend in the squad.

"It's about the right balance. We need the right characters that can also help with those who haven't been in this environment, haven't played three games in a week, help them through difficult moments. That's what you need to get through it."

Eustace's role in the recruitment of players is that of a head coach model. Whilst he gives his input and makes the final say on a player, it is a collective effort with John Park, Rudy Gestede and CEO Steve Waggott.

"I just wait and hopefully the deals get done," he said when asked on his level of involvement.

"I will always speak to the players but I don't get involved in the financial side. I want to build a relationship with the players and that's all I can do and the rest is down to the club.

"First impressions are very important, speaking to Owen (Beck), he ticks a lot of boxes. I think we have got a good one."
