Blackburn Rovers have agreed a deal to sign Hungarian goalkeeper Balazs Toth with the player set to fly in for a medical, The Lancashire Telegraph understands.
Rovers have been carefully weighing up their options in this transfer window to replace Leopold Wahlstedt. They have looked both domestically and overseas with various targets throughout the summer.
However, they have now landed on Toth and the deal is progressing. The goalkeeper is set to fly over to England on Thursday to complete a medical before the deal is officially confirmed.
The 26-year-old is highly rated by those who have watched him, though ultimately the proof will be in the pudding. Every signing from overseas will take an adaptation period in the Championship, as we saw with Leopold Wahlstedt.
Whilst Toth might well be signed in time to beat the English Football League's 12pm Friday deadline for involvement this week, it's very unlikely he would be thrown in at Burnley.
Rovers are also progressing in talks to sign Todd Cantwell from Rangers. It's understood that a deal hasn't yet been formally agreed but discussions are heading in the right direction and are at an advanced stage.
The finer details of the fee are still to be formally ironed out, as are personal terms with Cantwell. The 26-year-old would command a higher-end package, compared to Rovers' existing wage bill.
However, there is an expectation that Toth and Cantwell will both sign before the transfer window ends.
Other deals are still in the pipeline. It's thought that a wide attacker is still a priority with a central midfielder and right-back also part of the thinking, though the latter is not guaranteed.
No first-team exits are anticipated at Rovers, though Motherwell have been in discussions with Jack Vale. A few younger players could leave on loan too.
