Blackburn Rovers are in advanced talks to sign Owen Beck on loan from Liverpool, The Lancashire Telegraph understands.

The 22-year-old left-back looks set to join John Eustace's squad after Rovers beat off competition from other Championship clubs for his signature.

Rovers are keen to sign a goalkeeper, full-back, midfielder and wide attacker before Friday's 11pm deadline. Beck will fit the bill to give competition and cover for Harry Pickering.

Beck will be the fifth player to join Rovers on loan from Liverpool in as many seasons, highlighting the two club's strong relationship. Rovers fans will be hoping he can replicate Harvey Elliott's success, rather than the limited impact of Leighton Clarkson or Billy Koumetio.

The young defender spent last season on loan at Dundee and earned impressive reviews. He has previous EFL experience with Bolton Wanderers, though he only made a handful of appearances.

As revealed on Monday, Rovers have three main targets in goal. One of those is Mark Travers of Bournemouth but it's understood local rivals Burnley have nudged ahead of the queue in that particular race.

James Trafford is in talks to join Newcastle United and Scott Parker's links to the Cherries may see them win the race for Travers. Fellow winger Jaidon Anthony also looks set to join the Clarets ahead of Saturday's meeting with Rovers.
