Burnley winger Johann Berg Gudmundsson has joined Saudi Pro-League club Al-Orobah for an undisclosed fee.

Gudmundsson departed Turf Moor at the end of last season but U-turned following a chance meeting with chairman Alan Pace to sign a new one-year deal with the Clarets.

The Iceland international, who scored in the 5-0 win against Cardiff last weekend, has now decided to take up a new challenge overseas.

An official statement read: "Burnley would like to thank Johann for his contribution and commitment over the years and wish him all the best in the future."

Gudmundsson joined Burnley from Charlton in 2016 as part of a double deal with Nick Pope and went on to make 228 appearances in East Lancashire.

The 33-year-old was part of the squad that finished seventh in the Premier League in 2017/18 and featured in the Europa League qualifying rounds the following season.

He also helped the Clarets clinch the Championship title in 2022/23 and played 26 times last season, scoring in the 4-1 win at Sheffield United.

Last weekend's victory against Cardiff was Gudmundsson's 200th league appearance for the club.
