John Eustace has confirmed that Ryo Germain and Rabbi Matondo are amongst Blackburn Rovers' transfer targets but nothing is imminent.

The Rovers head coach wants at least four new faces in the final eight days of the window, which shuts at 11pm on Friday, August 30.

As things stand, Eustace doesn't expect any incomings before Saturday's match against Oxford United. A goalkeeper, full-back, midfielder and wide attacker remain on the shopping list.

Both Germain and Matondo have been identified as potential solutions on the left-hand side. A deal has been agreed in principle for the former but Rovers are weighing up whether to give it the green light.

"I think they are on the list along with 60 other players that the recruitment team have been looking at. They are, yes," Eustace told The Lancashire Telegraph.

"There is nothing imminent. I wouldn't expect anything before the weekend," Eustace added.

"I am confident we'll get what we need. We've had our recruitment meetings and we have targets that I'd like to bring in and the club want to bring in.

"It's about the right balance and making sure everyone is on the same page. We have eight days left to get the right players in.

"It could do (go down to the wire). It's been no different to the last eight or nine weeks, we have targets that the club want," Eustace said.

"It's important that we make the right signings and get the right characters in. We have a good group of players now. It's important to add more to the group.

"I think most clubs have been in similar situations. We did our business a bit late but we're highlighting the right players that can make us better.

"It's all part of football, everyone has opinions and you have to explore different avenues to get people in. We're very fortunate that we have signed five good players and we're working hard to get players in."

With Sam Szmodics departing in a deal worth an initial £9million, Eustace hopes that Rovers will be reinvesting some of that fee into the transfer budget.

The Premier League loan market is another avenue Rovers are looking to exploit, as well as permanent additions to the squad.

"I certainly hope so. When I came in, I spoke about building the right environment, the right team, for not just short-term success but long-term success," he said on Szmodics' exit.

"To do that, you need to get recruitment right. You have to bring in the right players that can help us for the next two, or three seasons. It's important that we get it right."

He added: "We are looking at the loan market. Over the seasons, the club have been very good at that.

"They've had some fantastic additions from the Premier League and so I hope we can get one or two good targets from that."
