Blackburn Rovers have a deal agreed in principle for Ryo Germain but the move remains in the balance, the Lancashire Telegraph understands.

The 29-year-old winger has been a target for several weeks with Rovers keen to bolster their options in the wide areas. There have been several reports of a deal being on and then off again throughout the week.

The LT understands that an agreement has been reached with Japanese side Jubilo Iwata. Personal terms have also been struck and it's now up to Rovers to decide whether Germain is definitely the right target.

Rovers have a broad transfer committee, with Rudy Gestede, John Park and Adam Owen all adding their input, on top of Steve Waggott. The final sign-off comes from John Eustace, who is asked for his input throughout.

Germain has been fancied for several weeks and Rovers could still push ahead with his signature. At the time of writing, it's thought the club are still assessing whether he is definitely their preferred target.

Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo is another player who has been linked and he is another player that Rovers have on their list. He fits the profile of the attacker they're looking to add; someone with speed who predominantly operates from the left-hand side.

There is an obvious link with Park as well, who worked for Rangers in their recruitment team. However, descriptions that Matondo is 'destined' for Ewood Park are premature.

When it comes to goalkeepers, Rovers are still weighing up their options too. A move for John Ruddy still remains unlikely despite the constant links to the now Newcastle United goalkeeper.

He worked with Eustace before but it would make little sense for the Premier League side to loan him out, considering he's been signed to help fill their quota of English players.

Leicester City's Daniel Iversen has been an option for a number of weeks but he is thought to be an expensive deal. His wages increased following the Foxes' promotion to the Premier League and that deterred Derby County from signing him, with Paul Warne working with the goalkeeper previously at Rotherham United.

He remains an option for Rovers but it's a trickier deal to do financially. It would depend on the wage contribution that Leicester would want, if a loan deal was sanctioned. Other goalkeeper options are being explored.

A deal for Jay Stansfield is very unlikely considering the cost of a permanent move. The striker was on the bench for Fulham's opening league match at Manchester United with Marco Silva stating he wants to keep the young attacker.

In terms of outgoings, Lewis Travis is expected to stay at Rovers despite interest from Hull City. Sheffield United and Stoke City have also registered interest during the summer but nobody has made a serious offer.

Eustace wants Travis to stay, having handed him the captaincy, and the midfielder is happy to remain at the club too.
