Burnley have announced the signing of Chelsea defender Bashir Humphreys on a "season-long loan with an option to buy".
The 21-year-old, who can play centre-back or left-back, started out at Reading before joining the Academy ranks at Stamford Bridge.
Humphreys signed his first professional deal in 2021 and made his first team debut in an FA Cup tie against Manchester City in January 2023.
He spent the second half of 2022/23 on loan at Bundesliga 2 club Paderborn and got Championship experience under his belt last season at Swansea City, making 27 appearances for the Welsh club.
The defender has also represented England from Under-16 to Under-21 level and now bolsters Scott Parker's defensive options.
“It feels great, it’s an amazing club. It makes so much sense for the next step in my career," he told the club site.
“Burnley is a club with huge ambitions, the owners know what they’re doing and they really want to push the club on as much as possible.
“The gaffer here is great. I had really good conversations with him and that’s always pivotal when it comes to transfers. It was completely perfect, everything he was saying to me.
"He knew about my game, he wants to work with me and help me improve. That’s all you want to hear as a player.”
