John Eustace paid tribute to Blackburn Rovers' new attacking signings after their instant impact for the club.

Makhtar Gueye and Yuki Ohashi have instantly become fans' favourites after their start to life in England. Plucked from overseas, they have quickly acclimated to the Championship.

Both are already off the mark for the club, with Gueye netting against Stockport County. Ohashi has three goals in as many appearances, with the most important of those rescuing a point against Norwich City at the weekend.

Between them, they have the perfect qualities of a number nine. Gueye is powerful, athletic and a willing runner. Ohashi is a poacher, who knows where the back of the net is.

ROVERS TAKEAWAYS: TRANSFER NEEDS OBVIOUS AS EUSTACE INFLUENCE GROWS

It's early days for both players but Eustace has been very encouraged by their performances.

"He has electric movement. I don't think he's the quickest in movement over a long distance but those ten yards, he's very, very quick," Eustace said on his Japanese goal-scorer.

"He has excellent movement and the goals he has scored have all been different. That's very pleasing and today's finish was fantastic. He's been a brilliant surprise for me.

"We have to remember that we recruited very late, only three weeks ago five players came in. Yuki was a find from Adam Owen, John Park and Rudy Gestede, Makhtar too.

"I don't think you need scouting to recruit Andi Weimann, Danny Batth and Kyle McFadzean, you know what you'll get from them. We needed those characters in and I want more into the group and then find some more exciting talent."

Gueye, in both league games, has been particularly bright in the first half before fading in the second. He has run out of steam having given his all to the team.

The Senegalese striker missed out on a pre-season and is therefore playing catch-up. Ryan Hedges is in the same boat after recovering from a long-term injury.

Eustace is encouraged by their early contributions and believes there is plenty more to come.

"I thought Makhtar in the first was very good. Half time came and I thought he looked very leggy in the second. His forward movements stopped and he didn't look after the ball as well.

"That's totally normal, it's natural. It's his third game, he hasn't played in pre-season. To come here and perform like that in the first half is very encouraging. We knew we'd have to make changes and Yuki is a different type of striker to him.

"He has that movement in-behind and he's very clinical."
