Scott Parker is ready to use all his past experiences to guide Burnley back to the Premier League after an impressive 5-0 win against Cardiff.
In his first home game since replacing Vincent Kompany as Clarets boss, his side laid down a marker in front of the Turf Moor faithful.
Goalkeeper Ethan Horvath’s mistake opened the scoring before Luca Koleosho scored later on in the first half.
After the break Josh Brownhill secured the victory before late strikes from Zeki Amdouni and Johann Berg Gudmundsson added gloss.
The five-goal win came after they opened their campaign with a 4-1 victory at Luton last week, and Parker is aiming to use his experience of past promotions with Fulham and Bournemouth to return Burnley to the top flight.
He said: “I know where Burnley were last year, I have been in that position when you don’t win many games and it can be a psychological blow on the squad.
“The most important thing here is to get back to winning ways and build a winning culture, and two wins from two with two tough fixtures.
“I want us to be bright about the future because we have had two great results. I have been in this division twice and I know the demands of it.
“I keep saying there will be bumps in the road but I don’t want us to lose sight of the first two games and the level of performance we have shown.
“The deadliness of this team has been there for everyone to see, so we are upbeat and we need to roll with that.”
Despite this being his first home game with Burnley, the former England midfielder wants to use the atmosphere at Turf Moor to their advantage.
He added: “You never anticipate leaving with a 5-0 win but the first thing Jonathan Hill said to me was that this place can get rocking and I sensed that energy.”
