Here's how The Lancashire Telegraph scored the players' performances, with a six representing par for the course.

Aynsley Pears - 5

Was having a good game up until the point of passing the ball straight to Sainz, which would've cost a goal had it not been for Tronstad's block. The equalising shot from Sargent was powerful but at his near post and questions will always be asked in that scenario.

Callum Brittain - 6

A positive first half but was then caught out for the equaliser; tackled in his own third. Made amends with a peach of a cross for Ohashi to head in.

Hayden Carter - 6

Defended his 18-yard box well against the threat of Sargent. Went off late on after getting a knock.

Dom Hyam - 7

Strong on the left side of the duo with most of the danger coming down the opposite side.

Harry Pickering - 7

Didn't give much change to his opposite number throughout the game.

Lewis Travis - 6

Was involved in a few tasty challenges early on which eventually saw him booked.

Sondre Tronstad - 7

Lost the ball early on but more than made amends with a phenomenal goal-saving block after Pears' error.

Joe Rankin-Costello - 6

Very quiet and a bit ineffective from the right. Not totally convinced this new role gets the best from him.

Tyrhys Dolan - 7

Very bright in the first half but, like most of the team, saw little of the ball in the second half.

Ryan Hedges - 8

Delightful finish to dink the ball over Gunn to put Rovers ahead. Worked hard and was heavily involved first half before running out of steam.

Makhtar Gueye - 8

A fantastic first 45 minutes before being left a little isolated in the second. Ran the channels with some great unselfish runs. Lovely weight of pass to set up Hedges' goal.

Substitutes:

Yuki Ohashi (Gueye, 63') - 7

Saw very little of the ball and was unable to hold it up for Rovers after coming on. But then produced the good with a brilliant header.

Andi Weimann (Hedges, 63') - 6

Similar story for both of the subs with Rovers under the cosh for large spells after they came on.

John Buckley (Rankin-Costello, 80') - N/A

On to try and add some composure to the Rovers midfield after a large spell under pressure.

Arnor Sigurdsson (Dolan, 80') - N/A

Added to try and bring a spark as Rovers searched for an equaliser.

Danny Batth (Carter, 90')

On for the last few minutes after Carter took a knock.

Unused substitutes: Hilton, McFadzean, Duru, Vale.
