Yuki Ohashi stepped up off the bench to rescue a point for Blackburn Rovers as they drew 2-2 with Norwich City.

Two goals in eight minutes turned the match on its head and looked to have cost Rovers the match.

John Eustace's side made the perfect start after 20 minutes when Makhtar Gueye fed Ryan Hedges after a sweeping counter-attack and he clinically dinked the goalkeeper.

However, Rovers were fortunate not to have been behind from that point. Josh Sargent missed two gilt-edged chances, first shooting wide after Rovers lost it in their own third before seeing a header crash the underside of the bar.

They were let-off once again when Aynsley Pears gifted possession to Borja Sainz and he squared to Sargent, only for Sondre Tronstad to produce a goal-saving block.

Rovers went in ahead but didn't heed their warning. Instead, they sat back and handed the initiative to Norwich and they profited.

Sargent would eventually score, firing into the top corner after Rovers again turned over the ball deep in their own third. Norwich were then on top, the crowd up and the winner followed.

Sainz tapped in at the back post after a quick break, with Sargent the provider for his close-range finish. Rovers were rattled and looked to have squandered a promising position.

However, approaching stoppage time, Ohashi met Brittain's superb cross to salvage a draw for Rovers.

The post-Sam Szmodics world started at Carrow Road, with Eustace opting for an unchanged team from those that earned victory one matchday one against Derby County.

Rovers' record in Norfolk was a positive omen, having won on their last three trips to Carrow Road. Fortune was with them in the first half on this occasion.

Having started relatively brightly, they were very fortunate not to be behind with Josh Sargent missing two huge chances in quick succession.

The first was of Rovers' own making, with Tronstad dispossessed deep into his own half. Sargent, bearing down on goal, dragged the shot wide and it was cleared for a corner.

The striker then rose to meet the resulting set-piece but saw his header crash off the underside of the bar and away. A let-off for Rovers.

They punished them with 20 minutes on the clock. A sweeping counter-attack saw Gueye feed Hedges and he dinked it over Angus Gunn for 1-0.

Every time Rovers attacked, they looked dangerous. Whilst they may have lost their talisman, they look a far more cohesive, fulent, attacking unit this season already.

Norwich were unfortunate not be level at the break though as two more big chances went begging. Youngster Gabriel Forsyth sent a brilliant shot heading for the top corner, from range, but Pears denied him impressively.

The Rovers goalkeeper was grateful to his team-mate, Tronstad, for bailing him out moments later though. He passed the ball straight to Sainz, who squared for Sargent but the midfielder produced a goal-saving block to keep Rovers ahead.

That luck ran out in the second half though as Rovers played themselves into trouble again. Brittain was the guilty party this time, robbed by Sainz and Callum Doyle freed Sargent to fire into the near post past Pears

It was a goal of Rovers' own making, which will frustrate Eustace, but it had been coming. They sat back from the start of the second half and few would argue Norwich didn't deserve to be level on the balance of chances.

This was a test of the visitor's mettle, with Norwich on top and the crowd right behind them. Unfortunately, the second goal followed soon after.

Sargent burst in-behind the Rovers backline and squared for Sainz, who had the simple job of tapping in from close range.

That looked to have been the winner but Rovers rallied and managed to fashion one last chance. Ohashi netted his third goal in blue and white, diving in to head Brittain's cross into the net to save them from the clutches of defeat.
