Stanley have signed midfielder Nelson Khumbeni on loan from Bolton Wanderers until January.

Khumbeni played under Ged Brannan at Morecambe last season and has been around the first-team squad at Bolton in pre-season, getting on the scoresheet against Chorley.

"I am happy to be here, I am ready to go and hopefully we can push on," Khumbeni told the club site. "Everywhere I have been I have enjoyed and now I am here, I am looking to kick on a bit more, do well for myself and the team, play as many games as I can and keep improving.

"I feel I am an all-round midfielder, I can do the dirty work, and I can get in and create chances and play well.

"I have played here a few times with different teams and the atmosphere has always been great. I can't wait to meet the fans and get playing.

"It's nice coming in and seeing Faz Rawson and Donald Love, people I know, it makes it 10 times easier to settle in. I am young and going into a fresh place and Donald and Faz made me welcome when I walked into Morecambe, I am hoping the same thing happens here.

"Ged and I get on well too. When I was at Morecambe, it was easy to understand him and he understood me, especially at the time coming in off an injury.

"He eased me in and threw me in when he could, and he understood me as a person. I enjoyed him as a character so it was easy when he came calling for me to join Accrington."

Manager John Doolan is excited to work with the youngster and believes he can have a positive impact on the squad.

He added: “We know Nelson first hand. We have watched Bolton quite a bit, both the first team, and the B Team. Ged was a big factor in it as well, as Nelson was with Ged at Morecambe last season.

"He will add a bit more power and pace, and the skill set that he brings means he is a great addition to the squad.

“He is a powerful midfielder, someone who can pass a ball, someone who can break lines. He is left-footed as well, which is a bonus. I am really looking forward to working with him.

"He has scored against us here and hopefully when he comes here and puts the shirt on, he can continue his streak and score for us.”
