Norwich City will be without wantaway star attacker Jon Rowe against Blackburn Rovers.

The Canaries attacker dropped out of the squad for their Championship opener last weekend amid interest from Marseille and Leeds United. The French club have had a bid rejected.

Norwich have already sold Gabriel Sara and don't want to lose Rowe or Josh Sargent. However, the 21-year-old's antics have seen him training with the Under-21s and he won't be included against Rovers this weekend.

“It’s been tough for him, and we knew that when we took the decision," head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup said.

"It’s a big fan base at this club, and they were affected by it. Jonny was too, and we‘ll support him the best way. He wants to talk to his team-mates, and he will be with us in a meeting soon. Then we will sit down and look at the next steps.”

Norwich will welcome former Rovers loanee Ben Chrisene back from injury, as well as summer signing Jose Cordoba. Neither are likely to start but could be included in the squad.

"Christian Fassnacht and Jacob Sørensen will be out for a while, I think we're talking a handful of weeks. A foot injury for Lungi and Achilles for Fasi," Thorup said.

"(José Córdoba and Ben Chrisene) are both in training, the plan is they'll be around the team for Saturday and we'll see how many minutes they will be able for.

"(Ashley Barnes) not in training yet. From what I hear, it's going a little better than expected but the plan remains the same. We want him ready for game minutes after the first international break."

On the threat of Rovers, he added: “I watched some of their games from last season, and I think there was a slight change from that against Derby.

"They have some strengths where we need to be good in our pressing game. They started well, but we also saw in that game that you can put them under pressure.”
