John Eustace has ruled himself out of the Preston North End job after surprising links emerged this week.

North End are looking for a new manager with Ryan Lowe leaving the club after one match of the Championship. The Blackburn Rovers head coach was a shock name listed by Sky Sports, in a list of the expected candidates for the job.

However, Eustace has distanced himself from that speculation and insists he is fully focused on being at Blackburn Rovers.

"I don't know anything about it, I am happy here," Eustace told The Lancashire Telegraph.

"I'm here to build. I came to build an exciting football team and, hopefully, we can do that. There's been no contact at all."

Rovers have no fresh injury concerns for the trip to Carrow Road with Sam
Szmodics in contention to start after returning to the fold. Eustace has been keen to manage the workload of Szmodics and those who haven't played in pre-season.

"Everyone is fine and raring to go, it's nice to have the majority of the squad fit," he said.

"It's important that we give the right minutes to the players at the right time. Some haven't had a full pre-season and have come in late and then we've had to monitor their game time after long injuries.

"The medical department have done a great job so full credit to them. I've been pleased with all of the squad, their attitude and the way they've applied themselves has been great.

It's about getting the right balance. We have good people and good staff, everyone is working to stay fit and strong."

Rovers have started the season in fantastic form with 10 goals in their opening two matches. Being more clinical in front of goal has been a key aim from pre-season.

"We have spoken lots about the final third and being more clinical," Eustace explained.

"We brought in players to do that, we have done a lot of work on the training pitch. Keith Downing has done a lot of work in the final third with the strikers and the final third.

"It's nice to see that pay off at the moment but there is still a lot of work to do. I think it's obvious when you look around and we can bring three or four good attacking options off the bench, it certainly helps.

"Their experience coming off the bench, it makes a big impact. I think with the Championship, it's getting tougher and tougher.

"Competition in all the teams is very high, the squads are very big, we have to keep up with everyone just to be competitive.

"We have a good squad of players and everyone is heading in the right direction. When I came in, we spoke about the togetherness and that's always been strong, I could sense that last season.

"It's very important that the players have that connection with the fans and I keep stressing that. You can see we have brought in some good characters to a great group of players.

"The way we came through was very rewarding and we've kicked on from that. It's a very good environment, they're very coachable and it's a good place to come into work at the moment.

"We bring in players that make us better and improve the squad. We want players to think fresh blood makes us more competitive. It's about the squad and nobody has a right to play week in, week out."
