Here's how The Lancashire Telegraph scored the players' performances, with a six representing par for the course.
Aynsley Pears - 6
Had absolutely nothing to do - apart from pick one out of his net. Nothing he could do as it was headed past him.
Callum Brittain - 8
Gave Rovers good width down the right-hand side. Came off at the break with his job more than done.
Hayden Carter - 7
A very easy night for the Rovers centre-back. Off at the break with Rovers four up.
Danny Batth - 8
Great for him to get 90 minutes under his belt as he edges closer to full fitness. He'll have sterner tests but he did everything with good composure.
Harry Pickering - 7
Solid and dependable. Untroubled at left-back.
Sondre Tronstad - 7
A step ahead of his opponents in the middle of midfield. Played with his slippers on.
John Buckley - 8
Really played like he had a point to prove. Saw lots of the ball and produced some lovely deliveries.
Andi Weimann - 8
Showed all of his experience with a lovely, composed finish. Made some very intelligent runs and certainly looks like he's got plenty left in the tank.
Sam Szmodics - 9
Two fantastic finishes on his return to the starting XI. Should be in contention to start at the weekend now. A big statement from him.
Arnor Sigurdsson - 7
The quietest of the front four but still got a nice assist for Szmodics' opener.
Yuki Ohashi - 8
He looks the part. Great flick header to get himself another Rovers goal. He's a very different option to Gueye but an effective one. Good technician and knows where the net is.
Substitutes:
Leo Duru (Brittain, 45') - 7
A competitive debut for the young full-back, a fantastic moment. Almost got an assist after bombing down the right but Sigurdsson's shot was blocked.
Kyle McFadzean (Carter, 45') - 7
Had very little to do but good minutes in the tank for the 37-year-old.
Lewis Travis (Tronstad, 63') - 7
Kept things ticking after coming on but the tie was already won.
Jack Vale (Weimann, 63') - 7
His first Rovers appearance since early in 2023. Took his goal really well, fired into the top corner.
Makhtar Gueye (Szmodics, 63') - 8
Headed in his first goal in Rovers colours and looked every bit the part against a young defence.
Unused substitutes: Hilton, Hyam, Rankin-Costello, Dolan.
Referee: Ross Joyce
