Blackburn Rovers are interested in Dutch goalkeeper Jeffrey De Lange amongst a number of options, The Lancashire Telegraph understands.

Rovers are in the market to sign a new shot-stopper after allowing Leopold Wahlstedt to leave earlier in the window. Joe Hilton has been the number two in pre-season but John Eustace wants a senior signing to compete with Aynsley Pears.

As reported over the weekend, De Lange is a target for Rovers. He's currently at Go Ahead Eagles in the Eredivisie and would command a fee.

Rovers have explored deals for Tim Krul and Asmir Begovic during the summer but those talks fell down due to personal terms. An experienced goalkeeper was always likely this summer to balance out the squad.

However, having added Kyle McFadzean, Danny Batth and Andi Weimann this week, Rovers are open to other profiles of goalkeepers. De Lange is understood to be a target, though there are others being considered.

The Lancashire Telegraph also understands a return for former loanee James Hill is very unlikely. Rovers made tentative enquiries about bringing the defender back after a successful loan last year.

However, Bournemouth intend to name him in their 25-man squad for their Premier League campaign. He's currently away in the US with the Cherries on their pre-season tour.
