Jake Garrett's loan move from Blackburn Rovers to Bristol Rovers has been confirmed.

The midfielder will spend the season with the Gas in League One to continue his development. Rovers believed that playing week in, week out, is the next stage of Garrett's journey.

The midfielder won the club's Young Player of the Year award last season but struggled for minutes in the second half of the campaign.

He is behind Sondre Tronstad, Lewis Travis and Joe Rankin-Costello in the pecking order, with John Buckley likely ahead of him too. With that in mind, the club have sanctioned a season-long switch for the 21-year-old.

Rovers have confirmed that the club have an option to recall him from The Memorial Stadium in January, if they so wish.

Explaining Garrett's imminent move, Eustace told The Lancashire Telegraph on Friday: "It doesn't matter where he gets the games, Jake is a very talented young player who I've enjoyed working with.

"He needs to go out and get a good run of games at whatever level it is. When he comes back to Blackburn, he'll be a much better player for it."

“I am really excited to join Bristol Rovers,” Garrett said. “I feel like I have a point to prove. I want to have the opportunity to show what I can do, week in and week out in League One. I am ready for the physical challenge and I'm prepared to battle hard and be a valuable part of the team.

“I am aiming to play as many games as possible and to contribute to the team positively. I will work hard every day in training to ensure that I can perform at my best for the weekend matches.

“I've had some really good discussions with the manager so far and it's become apparent that the way the Club wants to play suits me, and I'm eager to be a part of it and to make a positive impact.

“Right from the start of the transfer process, the Club has made it clear that they really wanted me to join, which caught my attention. I hope I can hit the ground running and show what I can do.”
