Here's how The Lancashire Telegraph scored the players' performances, with a six representing par for the course. Take it with a pinch of salt, it's pre-season after all!

Aynsley Pears - 7

Only had one save of note to make, to push away Collar's header. Did that well and his distribution was good.

Callum Brittain - 8

Won the penalty with a good delivery that was handled. Offered good width and a threat down the right.

Hayden Carter - 7

The defence weren't overly troubled at all. Carter was solid on the right side.

Dom Hyam - 8

Hyam was particularly good, mopping up a few dangerous situations. Won all his headers and physical duels.

Harry Pickering - 7

Some nice link up with Hedges in the first half where he overlapped and got forward. Less so in the second half.

Sondre Tronstad - 7

Solid and dependable in the middle. Broke up play and distributed it well.

Lewis Travis - 8

Ratted around in his very typical Travis way. A few bumps and bruises for himself and the opposition. Impressed with his pressing and presence in midfield.

Joe Rankin-Costello - 7

A few lovely touches, such as the one to set up Gueye in the first half. Wasn't in the game as much second half.

Ryan Hedges - 8

Played the 45 minutes as he continues his recovery. Won the ball back in some promising positions and looked after the ball. Linked up nicely with Pickering on the left.

Tyrhys Dolan - 8

Looked after the ball very intelligently in a role off the front. Missed a sitter in the first half but then made amends by scoring from the spot.

Makhtar Gueye - 7

Looked a handful on debut. Missed two particularly presentable chances but he got in the right positions. I'm sure he'll be a threat this season on that 45 minutes alone.

Substitutes:

Yuki Ohashi (Gueye, 45') - 7

Liked what I saw. Works hard, good link-up play and overall intelligence.

Arnor Sigurdsson (Hedges, 45') - 6

Quiet on the left side, didn't really get himself into the match. Good to see him back from injury.

Unused substitutes: Hilton, Eastham, O'Riordan, Batty, Buckley, Markanday, Vale.
