Blackburn Rovers have confirmed the signing of Andi Weimann on a one-year deal.

The Austrian forward has spent the last week training with John Eustace's side after leaving Bristol City on June 30. Weimann spent the second half of last season on loan at West Brom.

After spending some time at the Senior Training Centre, Rovers have moved to make it a permanent deal, signing him up for the 2024/25 season.

Weimann becomes the sixth deal that Rovers have confirmed this week. Makhtar Gueye, Yuki Ohashi, Exauce Mafoumbi, Kyle McFadzean, Danny Batth and now Weimann have all been added to the ranks.

Weimann becomes the first Austrian to have signed for Rovers by completing the deal. The 32-year-old will bring a wealth of experience and Championship pedigree to the team.

After spells with Aston Villa, Derby County, Bristol City and Watford, where he was team-mates with Eustace, he now adds Ewood Park to an impressive list.

Adding more goal-scoring options has been and remains a priority for Rovers. Weimann can lead the line but is probably more comfortable playing as a number 10, in a similar way to Sam Szmodics, or can operate off either flank.
