Blackburn Rovers have completed the signing of Danny Batth on a one-year deal.

The experienced centre-back becomes Rovers' fourth signing this week, following the additions of Makhtar Gueye, Yuki Ohashi and Exause Mafoumbi. Kyle McFadzean has also signed a new contract to stay at Rovers for the 2024/25 season.

Rovers have courted Batth for well over 12 months and have now finally got their man. A deal had been struck last summer but fell through because of Venky's financial issues.

Batth then joined Norwich City on transfer deadline day, leaving Sunderland. Whilst he didn't play as regularly as he'd have hoped last season, the defender was the Black Cats' Player of the Year in 2022/23.

John Eustace was keen to sign Batth, who has been training with Wolves since leaving Carrow Road. His arrival should complete Rovers' centre-back recruitment, barring any departures, leaving them with five options for the new campaign.

Batth rejected moves in the UK and overseas after making it clear his preference would be to finally move to Rovers. It's a deal that has been over a year in the making and has finally come to fruition.

The defender will add experience and Championship know-how to a Rovers squad that needs those ingredients.
