Blackburn Rovers have confirmed that Sam Gallagher has joined Stoke City for an undisclosed fee.
Gallagher brings an end to his five-year stay at Ewood Park and moves across the Championship to the Potters.
The 28-year-old had one year left on his deal at Rovers and The Lancashire Telegraph understands that the fee could rise to £1.6million.
Makhtar Gueye has signed from RWD Molenbeek to fill the void of Gallagher. Yuki Ohashi has also arrived from Sanfreece Hiroshima in a double swoop.
Gallagher leaves Rovers having scored 34 Championship goals in his five seasons, as well as a further 11 when on loan in 2016/17.
Whilst Eustace didn't want to lose the forward, there was always an acceptance this might happen if a suitable offer came in.
“The direction that the club wants to go in is what attracted me,” Gallagher told Stoke's official site.
“There is an eagerness to climb the league which aligns with what I want to achieve.
“I feel confident in my abilities, I want to impact the team in a positive way and, most importantly, for the Club to be successful.”
Stoke are aiming to build on last season's 17th-place finish as manager Steven Schumacher prepares for his first full season in the hot seat.
Sporting director Jon Walters added: “Sam has a wealth of Championship experience and that’s something we wanted to bring into our forward line for the new season, to complement the players we already have and others we are looking to bring in.
“He is a traditional number nine but has played a lot of his recent football for Blackburn in wide positions. He has shown for a number of years that those around him benefit from playing alongside him.
“There was a lot of interest in Sam from elsewhere so for him to have chosen us shows that he likes what we are about as a club, and we are delighted to welcome him to Stoke City.”
