Blackburn Rovers have completed a deal to re-sign Kyle McFadzean for the 2024/25 season.

The 37-year-old centre-back joins Rovers on a one-year deal, having impressed during his six-month stint at the club previously.

Head coach John Eustace and McFadzean had both publicly stated they wanted to extend his deal into the new campaign but it looked unlikely at one stage. Despite having a contract in principle agreed, Rovers took their time to complete the deal.

The defender proved to be a leader on and off the pitch last term. Eustace is keen to increase the average age of his squad this summer after finding the group light in experience last season.

McFadzean has a wealth of experience, having made more than 600 appearances for the likes of Coventry, Burton, MK Dons and Crawley.

The veteran becomes the third senior signing of the summer at Ewood Park after Makhtar Gueye and Yuki Ohashi both arrived to bolster Eustace's strike department.

Rovers are also closing in on the signing of Danny Batth to add further experience to the backline.

Dom Hyam and Hayden Carter were previously the only centre-backs in the Rovers squad with Championship experience while Scott Wharton is sidelined by injury. Connor O'Riordan and Pat Gamble have also been involved in pre-season.
