Blackburn Rovers hope to tie up deals for Yuki Ohashi and Kyle McFadzean, with both players set to undergo medicals on Monday.

John Eustace is desperate for new additions and Rovers are set to finally break their duck in the summer window.

Ohashi flew over from Japan over the weekend and is set for medical testing on Monday. The 28-year-old will sign permanently for what is understood to be a low six-figure fee.

Similarly, McFadzean is set to rejoin Rovers on a deal for the 2024/25 season. The defender is also having his medical on Monday and will rejoin the group shortly if all goes to plan.

Eustace was always keen to keep the 37-year-old at the club and McFadzean also favoured a return to Ewood Park. Despite weeks of waiting, both parties will now get their wish.

The Rovers head coach told The Lancashire Telegraph that nothing had progressed with either Danny Batth or Liam Cooper. He didn't rule out the possibility of signing another centre-back though.

A deal for Exauce Mafoumbi is also likely to be wrapped up this week with the young striker announcing his exit from Nantes on Instagram on Friday. He is one for the future and will initially link-up with Mike Sheron's Under-23s.

"I want as many players as we can, you can see the squad is very thin," he told The Lancashire Telegraph.

"We had a very young squad tonight (Friday), we have 11 starters playing for tomorrow (Saturday) and the bench is very thin.

"It's very evident that the squad needs improving, the right characters, the right experience, to make us better.

"I think whoever we bring in, we have to make sure they're making the positions very competitive. It's vital the recruitment team are working their socks off, which they are, to bring the right characters in.

"Possibly (a little frustrating) but this is where we are. It's pre-season at the moment. The lads we've been working with have been magnificent.

"We've had four, five weeks working together. We've had 12, 13 Under-23 players training with us, they have developed and tonight they were good.

"It's about them learning the game and the experienced players helped them through it. Pre-season is about getting fit and getting sharpness in the legs.

"Everyone we have used has been good and tomorrow will be exactly the same."

Talks over a deal for Sam Szmodics to join Ipswich Town are ongoing. The Tractor Boys are expected to make another offer and it seems more likely that will leave Rovers than stay at the club.

Stoke want Sam Gallagher and are also in dialogue about a deal. Rovers rejected bids up to £1.5million from Ipswich Town in January but could accept a similar fee this time around, with one year left on the striker's contract.
