John Eustace has not closed the door on John Fleck returning to Blackburn Rovers.

The midfielder signed a short-term deal in January after signing from Sheffield United. However, his Rovers career lasted 17 minutes after he was injured on debut against Preston North End.

He then had to undergo shin surgery which ruled him out for the season. Rovers stated in their retained list that talks with the player would continue.

Since then, nothing has happened. Fleck is thought to be back fit again but remains a free agent.

Eustace insisted he hadn't ruled out the possibility of the experienced Scotsman coming back to Ewood Park but was unaware whether any further talks had taken place with the club.

"I certainly haven't moved on from that," Eustace told The Lancashire Telegraph.

"I don't know if he's been speaking to the club. He hasn't been training. There are a lot of players we'd like to bring in.

"We have to make sure we hit the right targets, the right players, the right targets.

"Flecky was very unfortunate with injuries last year. That's something we have to look at to make sure we are recruiting the right players."

Rovers currently have Joe Rankin-Costello, Lewis Travis, Sondre Tronstad, John Buckley and Jake Garrett as midfield options. Goalkeeper, centre-back and attack are through to be the priority positions, at the moment.
