Here's how The Lancashire Telegraph scored the players' performances, with a six representing par for the course. Take it with a pinch of salt, it's pre-season after all!

Aynsley Pears - 8

Produced a really good save with his foot in the first half to deny Sze. Could do nothing about the goal after denying Aasgaard's first attempt.

Callum Brittain - 6

Will be important in offering some width down that right side for Rovers. Got into some decent areas and produced a few dangerous crosses.

Hayden Carter - 6

Will have been disappointed to lose the aerial duel with Stones which set up Aasgaard, who hit the bar. Otherwise, gave very little away.

Dom Hyam - 7

Defended his box really well and handled the physical threat of Stones and then Hugill.

Harry Pickering - 7

Solid against the lively Rankine, who had pace to burn.

Sondre Tronstad - 7

Kept things ticking over in the centre of the park. Nothing flashy but solid.

Lewis Travis - 7

Took the armband back for the first time since leaving. Did his usual stuff, won tackles, broke up play, kept it simple.

Joe Rankin-Costello - 8

Looked the most likely to create an opening for Rovers. Set up the goal for Vale with a nice ball into his path.

Tyrhys Dolan - 6

Played centrally, behind the striker. Saw bits of the ball and had a few nice touches but wasn't overly involved in the play.

Jack Vale - 7

Wasn't in the match much at all but when the ball fell to him in the box, he took his chance with a confident finish.

Substitutes:

Dom Biniek (Dolan, 74') - 6

On for the last 15 minutes to play behind the striker.

Aodhan Doherty (Bloxham, 82') - N/A

Late change for Bloxham on the left.

Unused substitutes: Hilton, Atcheson, Montgomery, Saadi.

Referee: Darren Bond
