Newport County have knocked back two bids from League One clubs from Blackburn Rovers-linked Will Evans.

The Lancashire Telegraph reported last month that Evans was on a shortlist for a number of Championship clubs, including Rovers. However, no bids had been made at the time and he was unlikely to be first choice.

Since then, it's been quiet on the Evans front. Rovers have been closer to bringing in additions in goal and at the back but are yet to make a breakthrough.

Newport County owner Hugh Jenkins has revealed that the club have rejected two offers for the 27-year-old, both from third-tier clubs.

“There has been interest and we have had a couple of offers, tentative offers, from League One clubs,” Jenkins told South Wales Argus.

“We have knocked both of them back and there have been other conversations, but nothing else really to report.

“That is just to be expected for a guy who scored over 20 goals last year, so that is where we are at and we hope that things stay as they are.”

Evans scored 25 goals for Newport in all competitions last summer and has one year left on his contract. He is yet to play in pre-season due to a niggling injury.
