Harrison Wood has become the latest Blackburn Rovers Academy graduate to put pen to paper on a new contract.

Rovers have been using the off-season to tie down some of their emerging talent with fresh deals ahead of the new season.

Charlie Olson and Isaac Whitehall have both committed their futures in the last week and Wood is now the next in line.

Rovers triggered the 12-month extension in his previous deal, tying him to the club until 2025. This new deal also runs until the same point but with a new one-year option, if Rovers want to keep him until 2026.

Wood is currently in Austria with John Eustace's side for their warm-weather pre-season camp. He is an attacker who can play off the front or on either flank and has been a mainstay for Mike Sheron's Under-21s.

The 19-year-old has been at Ewood Park since the age of six and dreams of making his first-team debut for Rovers.

“I’m really excited and I can’t wait to impress the gaffer, the fans and hopefully play a bit more men’s football this year,” he said.

“Last season was definitely up and down for me. I had a big injury, which required surgery on my knee, but I think I’ve come out of it stronger and better than before.

“At the start of this pre-season, I feel really sharp and I’m just excited to play some games now.

“I think the way that the gaffer plays really suits who I am as a 10, so I’m really excited to train with the first team squad and show the staff what I can do.

“I’ve been here for quite a while now, so I feel like now’s the time for me to push towards the first team or start training week-in week-out with them, which is definitely a big goal of mine for the season ahead.

“It’s great to have the backing of the club, so now it’s time for me to really push on and show everyone what I’m capable of.”
