Hull City defender Sean McLoughlin has responded to links with a move to Ewood Park this summer.

McLoughlin played 26 times last season as the Tigers finished seventh in the Championship, narrowly missing out on the play-offs.

There has been speculation over the 27-year-old’s future as new boss Tim Walter prepares for his first season with the club.

When asked about potential interest in his services, the defender gave a coy response.

"I think it's just this time of year really," McLoughlin told Hull Live. "There's a lot of speculation about a lot of the players.

“It might sound like a cliché but you're just focusing on what you can affect, and that's how you train and how you prepare yourself.

"You can't really control what's said on Twitter or online or any of that stuff, so you just focus on yourself, getting in the best shape possible and training well."

He added: "I've got a contract for another two years and I've been here for five years now.

“Me and my wife live over in Hull and my family really enjoy coming over, so I am happy here and I think it's just about what's best for me.

“It's just making sure that I'm in good shape, training well and what happens, happens."

Hayden Carter and Dom Hyam are Rovers’ only current centre-back options with Championship experience while Scott Wharton is out injured. Connor O'Riordan and Pat Gamble played the second half of last weekend’s friendly at Accrington Stanley.

Earlier this week, The Lancashire Telegraph reported that the club ran the risk of losing Kyle McFadzean with the former Coventry man now a free agent.

McFadzean spent the second half of last term at Ewood Park after signing a short-term deal, playing 13 times.
