Rovers forward Semir Telalovic has completed a move to German second division club SSV Ulm for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old arrived in East Lancashire from Borussia Monchengladbach on deadline day last summer and made his Championship debut in a 2-1 victory against Middlesbrough.

However, he went on to have a tough first season in English football, failing to score in 20 senior appearances.

Telalovic also got minutes under his belt for the Under-21 squad at times while opportunities were hard to come by in the first team.

John Eustace confirmed after the pre-season friendly at Accrington Stanley on Saturday that the striker was in talks over a move away from the club.

Telalovic previously had a spell in Ulm’s youth ranks and will now be keen to make his mark as they aim to build on promotion to Bundesliga 2.

The side finished top of the German third tier last season, 10 points clear of second-place Prussia Munster, following an impressive campaign.

"I'm happy to be back here, to train with the team and to feel the fans in the Donaustadion,” Telalovic told the club website.

“The club and the city have earned the jump to League 2 and I hope that we will have a successful season.”

Managing director Markus Thiele added: “Semir is a boy from the region who knows the club and knows where the goal is.

“We are pleased that he is strengthening our team and has decided to move to his hometown. During our discussions, we sensed that he is keen to wear the SSV jersey again and play in the Donaustadion.”

Ulm kick off the upcoming Bundesliga 2 campaign on Sunday, August 4 with a home fixture against Kaiserslautern.

Last week, goalkeeper Leo Wahlstedt left Rovers to join Danish club Aarhus after a 12-month spell at Ewood Park.
