Luca Dahl Tomasson, the son of former boss Jon Dahl Tomasson, has joined Feyenoord following a spell in Rovers’ youth ranks.
The 16-year-old attacking midfielder will be part of the Dutch club’s Under-17 squad next season, which is managed by Erik van der Ven.
His dad had a four-year spell with Feyenoord during his playing career, scoring more than 50 goals before heading to AC Milan.
Luca told the club website: “Feyenoord is a special club for me in many ways. As a little boy I regularly came to De Kuip to watch my father's matches.
“The fact that I can now follow in his footsteps makes it extra special for me. I can't wait to play in the Feyenoord shirt myself and show what I have to offer.”
He also wrote on social media: “Proud and honoured to have signed my first professional contract with such a beautiful club as @Feyenoord.
“Also, I want to thank my coaches and team-mates at @Rovers for believing in me and helping me develop as a player.”
The youngster previously spent time in Excelsior Rotterdam’s youth set-up before coming over to England.
His dad has taken charge of four friendlies since being named manager of the Swedish national team, including a 1-0 win against Albania.
However, they were beaten by Denmark and Serbia earlier this month – their final fixtures before the Nations League campaign, which gets under way in September against Azerbaijan and Estonia.
