Ethan Walker has joined Scottish club Ayr United following his release by Rovers earlier this summer.

Walker arrived at Ewood Park in the summer of 2022 following a spell at Preston North End and initially slotted into the Under-21 side.

Last term, the youngster had loan spells at Morecambe and Oldham in search of regular playing time to continue his development.

He now links up with Scott Brown, who took charge at Ayr in January following a stint in the dugout at Fleetwood.

Walker told the official club channels: "I just want to bring something exciting to the team. I think the gaffer is a big reason why (I came here).

“Before I joined Blackburn Rovers two years ago, I had quite an honest conversation with Scott and he wanted me to come to Fleetwood. We had a really good conversation about the situation and where I wanted my career to go.

“I believed at the time that Blackburn was the right thing for me and he was great. He understood what I was looking for.

“Now, it's the time where I have left and I need to go and express myself. Having Scott come and speak to me again and show he really wants me to come, improve me and progress me, was a big reason.

“But also the direction the club wants to be going and the players they've brought in - we want to push for the higher end of the table, be the best in the league and be one of the fittest teams. It's always nice to see the club's ambition and that's also attracted me to come here.”

Ayr are preparing for another season in the second tier of Scottish football as they aim to build on last term’s seventh-place finish.
