Blackburn Rovers have not placed a valuation for potential suitors to meet in order to sign Sam Szmodics, The Lancashire Telegraph can reveal.

Rovers' star player is set to be heavily coveted this summer after scoring 33 goals in all competitions last season. Szmodics claimed the golden boot and it's anticipated that he will have offers to leave Ewood Park.

However, it's understood that, at the time of writing, Rovers have not received any formal offers for Szmodics, though there is interest.

The transfer market is in its infancy having opened on June 14 and with the European Championship underway, the window is expected to be slow over the next month.

Premier League teams don't yet know what their squads will look like and there is expected to be a flurry of activity from mid-July until September 1.

Online rumours that a valuation has been agreed in principle that Rovers would accept for Szmodics are wide of the mark, The Lancashire Telegraph understands.

Whilst the club may internally have a figure in mind for their top-scorer, nothing has been agreed with the player or other clubs.

No team has made a formal proposal to Rovers or Szmodics yet. Turkish club Galatasaray have shown the biggest intent so far, as reported by this publication several weeks ago.

Moving abroad would present logistical challenges for the 28-year-old, who has a young family. However, the opportunity to play in the Champions League, at a club like Galatasaray, would be a major consideration.

It's understood that Szmodics will assess the options presented to him this summer and is relaxed about his future. He'll return for pre-season testing with the rest of the group this week.

Szmodics is thought to be very happy in the North-West and at Rovers. The possibility of him remaining at Ewood Park has not been ruled out.

A new contract with improved terms is a possible option. Szmodics signed fresh terms with Rovers in November which ties him down until 2026 with a further one-year option.

However, no discussions have yet taken place. Head coach John Eustace has publicly and privately reiterated his desire to keep Szmodics at the club.

At the age of 28, Szmodics' next move will be his biggest and most important. He has publicly stated that he would like the chance to play in the Premier League if an opportunity arose.

In that same interview, he reiterated how happy he is at Blackburn Rovers. That remains the case and a contract renewal would be considered too.

Until an offer is made, either by a potential suitor or by Blackburn Rovers in the form of a new deal, the situation is unlikely to change.

Eustace's priority is to add more goal-scorers to his team this summer. Losing his number-one marksman would add an even greater need to find more attacking firepower.
