Blackburn Rovers have announced that John Park and Rudy Gestede have returned to the club as Head of Recruitment and Head of Football Operations, respectively.

The Lancashire Telegraph reported last week that Park was set to return to Ewood Park after leaving in 2022. The recruitment chief left at the end of his contract with Tony Mowbray.

Rovers have restructured their recruitment department after Director of Football Gregg Broughton left the club. The club have now also confirmed Sean Kimberley has left, who was Head of Recruitment.

Park will now assume that role as Head of Recruitment. Rovers are also expected to appoint Adam Owen as Head of Technical but that has not been formally announced yet.

Chief Executive Steve Waggott, Head Coach John Eustace and Park will now lead Rovers' transfer plans for the summer. They will need to appoint a new Head of UK Scouting too as Tom Sutton has joined Huddersfield Town.

Gestede has taken a role at Rovers as Head of Football Operations. The former striker told The Lancashire Telegraph last year that he had been studying a CEO sports organisation course in Manchester.

"I want to work with a club in the executive direction to have a say on the organisation of a club," he said in an exclusive interview.

"I want to see clubs grow like Brentford and Brighton. When they had just gone up to the Championship, I'd said they'd be in the Premier League because of the way they are run, the stability they have.

"They know how to make a plan and stick with it. I would like to find a club that can do that and we will see how high we can go."

It's understood the 35-year-old has spent time shadowing at Rovers in the last 12 months and will now assume a permanent position at the club.
