Rosaire Longelo has joined Swindon Town on a free transfer following the expiry of his Stanley deal.
Longelo had been offered fresh terms to remain with the Reds but decided to take on a new challenge.
The former Newcastle and West Ham youngster shared a heartfelt message to supporters on social media.
He wrote: “My time at this wonderful club has come to an end. I just want to say a massive thank you to the fans, players and staff members who made me feel at home as soon as I stepped through the doors.
“I hope the club gets back to where they should be because you fans deserve it. Wish you all the very best, RL14.”
Longelo arrived in East Lancashire in January 2022 and went on to make 82 appearances for the Reds.
The versatile full-back played 27 times last term as the side finished 17th in their first season back in League Two, scoring three times.
He had reportedly been attracting interest from a number of clubs in the third and fourth tiers, but Swindon have managed to secure his services.
Longelo told the club's official website: "Swindon's always been a big club so when they came calling, it was hard to say no. I'm delighted and so happy to join the club, I can't wait to get started."
The Robins' head of football, Jamie Russell, added: "Rosaire is an exciting player who is comfortable on either side of the pitch.
"His attacking flair will bring excitement to the Swindon fans. We are really pleased to have won the race to gain Rosaire’s signature."
