John Eustace insists Blackburn Rovers need points as much as Sheffield Wednesday knowing one more win can secure their Championship status.

Rovers head into a monster match at the weekend five points ahead of the Owls, who sit second bottom. Last week's win at Elland Road has relieved the pressure on the hosts, who know victory will mathematically see them safe.

Wednesday, who will be backed by over 7,200 fans in the Darwen End, see the game as must-win. They are only a point adrift of safety but have an inferior goal difference and know Huddersfield host Birmingham City next weekend.

Despite the pressure weighing heavier on the visitors, Eustace insists Rovers are not safe and need the points just as much.

The head coach has called on the Ewood Park faithful to make their presence felt in their upcoming and final two home games. Sunday could mark the club's highest attendance in the Championship this season.

"We expect a very difficult Championship game, we need the points just as much as them," Eustace insisted.

"Nobody is getting carried away with a good win last week, we need the points. We'll be fighting and scrapping as much as them for the points.

"Since I have come in, the support has been outstanding, home and away. They have backed the players even through the difficult moments.

"Sunday's game is a huge game, we need as many fans at Ewood Park as possible, they have a lot of fans coming. We want to make it a fortress going forward.

"They have played their part so far and we need that going forward. We want to be a family, the fans and the players. There will be difficult moments but we have to get through that tomorrow.

"In a family, you have good times and bad but you stay together and come through stronger. That's all I ask for.

"If this football club is to move forward, we have to be together. It doesn't matter about things off the pitch or what anyone says, any negativity, it doesn't matter. All that matters is what we do together.

"I came here to keep the team up. What I'm focused on is staying in the league, we have done ok up to now, picking up vital points. In this last three games we need one more win."

"Of course it's stressful, it's a very difficult job," he added.

"It's important to work with good people and good players and I have a fantastic group of players here. From day one they have made me feel very welcome. 

"The commitment has been there for everyone to see. When they have been doubted or we have been doubted, we have stuck together. 

"We need as many points as we can in three massive games that start on Sunday."
