John Eustace has backed Blackburn Rovers and captain Dom Hyam to right the wrongs of Wednesday night against Leeds United.

Rovers were thrashed 5-0 at Bristol City in what was comfortably their worst display of the Eustace era. The 'soft' nature of each goal irritated the head coach.

Things don't get any easier with a quick turnaround for Rovers, travelling to Elland Road for the early kick-off. 

Eustace again reiterated that Rovers fell below their usual standards at Ashton Gate but is confident he will see a reaction from the group on Saturday.

"Obviously not, I thought we were fine in the first 20 minutes," Eustace said.

"We weather a bit of a storm then had a couple of chances ourselves. We let a real soft goal in, I thought they were all really soft. That hasn't been us since I've been in.

"I am still learning about the group. I am really excited to see the reaction from the game. I couldn't ask for a better game on Saturday at Leeds to see that.

"I've said before that this is a fantastic group of players to work with. They have Blackburn Rovers at heart. They want to do well for the football club, we're all determined to get enough points to stay in this league.

"I can only go on what I've seen and how they have approached it since I came in. They were coming off eight defeats in 11 and the way the group has stuck together and worked hard, you can see that it's there.

"Confidence is there. We'll see if it does affect the group but I am pretty confident we can go there on Saturday and be very competitive.

"Wednesday night, we dropped below our standards but we have the final four games to ensure we don't feel like that again."

Captain Hyam has come under scrutiny for his part in the concessions at Bristol City, with the skipper having a difficult night. 

Eustace has backed Hyam to bounce back from the disappointment and hinted he will start again at Elland Road.

"Everyone has bad games, bad nights. It wasn't just Dom (Hyam), there were a few off the pace," Eustace said.

"Dom has been magnificent since I've come in. He's the leader, the captain of the team. I know it won't affect him and he'll be ready to go again on Saturday.

"We have a group of players that needs good leaders to help them through. Dom is certainly a leader and he's our captain.

"I know after speaking to him that he can't wait to come out and try to put things right."
