Sam Szmodics has been nominated for the EFL Player of the Season after his fantastic campaign for Blackburn Rovers.

The Championship's leading goal-scorer has netted 23 times with a further six in the FA Cup, leaving him one goal short of hitting the 30-goal mark.

His contributions in front of goal have been invaluable to Rovers in their bid to stay in the division. Szmodics added two more crucial goals to his tally in the 5-1 win at Sunderland on Easter Monday.

His competition is Leicester City midfield Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, with 11 goals and 13 assists, and Leeds United forward Crysencio Summerville who has scored 17 times and laid on a further 11 goals.

The winner will be announced at the League’s annual ceremony in London on Sunday 14 April.

Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna, Hull City's Liam Rosenior and Whites boss Daniel Farke have all been nominated for Manager of the Season. The Tractor Boys boss looks a shoo-in for that award having overseen a remarkable promotion campaign that has them on the cusp of the Premier League.

The three players nominated for Young Player of the Season are Jon Rowe of Norwich City, Leeds' Archie Gray and Jordan James from Birmingham City.
