Here's how The Lancashire Telegraph scored the players' performances, with a six representing par for the course.
Aynsley Pears - 4
No doubt that he should have done better for the decisive goal, with Chaplin's goal squirming past him.
Callum Brittain - 5
Handled Broadhead pretty well defensively but there were some loose passes and poor crosses from the right.
Dom Hyam - 7
Handled the physical threat of Kieffer Moore pretty well. Kept the Welsh striker quiet.
Scott Wharton - 7
Another solid display alongside Hyam. Ipswich created very little in the second half.
Harry Pickering - 7
Was booked after only six minutes so you feared it would be a long afternoon against the dangerous Hutchinson. To his credit, he recovered and managed the game well.
Sondre Tronstad - 7
Broke up play well in the middle of the park. An important component in that midfield.
Joe Rankin-Costello - 7
Pressed well in midfield and was very unfortunate to have his goal ruled out. A good hour in the tank after six weeks out.
Ryan Hedges - 7
Looked most likely to provide the spark that Rovers lacked in the first half. A few dangerous runs and crosses.
Sam Szmodics - 7
Had one effort turned over by Hladky and air-kicked another presentable chance. Wasn't in the match as much as he'd have liked.
Ben Chrisene - 6
Did a job for an hour on the left wing but is probably more comfortable at left-back/wing-back.
Tyrhys Dolan - 7
Intelligent cutback for Rankin-Costello but the goal was ruled out. Pressed well from the front.
Substitutes:
Yasin Ayari (Rankin-Costello, 62') - 6
Some nice touches after coming on. His performances are getting better.
Andrew Moran (Chrisene, 62') - 6
Added some energy from the bench. Picked up some good positions.
Semir Telalovic (Hedges, 82') - N/A
A late change as Rovers chased an equaliser.
Hayden Carter (Pickering, 90') - N/A
On for the dying seconds of the match.
Unused substitutes: Wahlstedt, Koumetio, Garrett, Gilsenan, Markanday.
Referee: Stuart Attwell
Attendance: 18,225
