Sondre Tronstad reckons the Rovers supporters can have a big impact heading into the final eight games of the Championship season.
John Eustace’s side still have work to do in the coming weeks as they aim to pull away from the drop zone.
Tronstad hailed the fans for their backing, at Ewood Park and on the road, despite the busy fixture in recent weeks.
“It is always nice to have the fans behind you, especially when you have difficult times on the pitch and are not winning games,” he told RoversTV.
“I meet people outside and they are always friendly. When you are in this kind of situation, it is normal that people are frustrated.
“But I have never met anyone who has not been nice to me. I think everyone is backing me and all the lads.”
There have been highs and lows from Tronstad’s fist season in East Lancashire, having joined on a free transfer from Vitesse Arnhem in the summer.
“It didn’t start great for me but I was quickly in the team again,” he recalled. “It has been a good year but, of course, we want to do better in the league.
“I know that I am a good footballer and sometimes it takes time to get into a new club and new playing style. It was just about working hard and believing in myself.
“I wanted to prove to everyone that I am a good player and can play in this league. Eventually, I got into the team again and it has been good since then.”
The Rovers squad have had to adapt to a new way of playing since John Eustace took charge at Ewood Park.
It hasn’t been easy, with time on the training pitch limited due to the number of midweek fixtures in the league and FA Cup.
“It is always a bit challenging because we don’t have a lot of time on the pitch to practice anything,” the midfielder explained.
“When you have so many games, it is just about getting to the next one. But we are all professionals and we should adapt quickly to any formation or playing style. That is something we are doing.”
Rovers are back in action on Good Friday when promotion hopefuls Ipswich make the long trip to Ewood Park.
The Tractor Boys are only a point off the automatic promotion spots heading into the business end of the season as they aim to achieve back-to-back promotions under Kieran McKenna.
Ther are also games against Sunderland and Southampton coming up, and Tronstad is eager to keep getting points on the board.
“I think the way the season has turned out since December, we have to be honest with ourselves about where we are at the moment,” he said.
“For now, we are aiming to stay in the league but it is not about talking, it is about showing it on the pitch.”
