The Championship table is tight as always and Rovers are among a number of clubs who still have work to do to secure safety heading into the final eight games.
Eustace’s men will be keen to get points on the board in the coming weeks, starting with a tough test against promotion hopefuls Ipswich on Good Friday.
How does Rovers’ run-in compare to the sides around them? The Lancashire Telegraph has taken a look at each club in and around the bottom three and what they can expect from the final eight matches.
MILLWALL
Current position: 16th
Form: LWDWW
Remaining fixtures: West Brom (H), Rotherham (A), Huddersfield (A), Leicester (H), Cardiff (H), Sunderland (A), Plymouth (H), Swansea (A)
Neil Harris returned to the Millwall dugout last month following Joe Edwards’ sacking and has already racked up wins against Southampton, Watford and Birmingham.
The Lions also drew 1-1 at Ewood Park earlier this month, with Sam Szmodics cancelling out Michael Obafemi’s opener.
With games against Rotherham, Huddersfield and Plymouth coming up before the end of the season, the London club have made sure that their destiny is firmly in their own hands and will back themselves to build on recent results.
Millwall also hope to have Tom Bradshaw back to play a part in the run-in. The Welsh international hasn’t featured since the victory at Southampton due to injury.
PLYMOUTH ARGYLE
Current position: 18th
Form: LDLLW
Remaining fixtures: Norwich (A), Bristol City (H), Rotherham (A), QPR (H), Leicester (H), Stoke (A), Millwall (A), Hull (H)
Plymouth have won just one of their last nine games in the league and pressure is building on Ian Foster, who took charge at Home Park in January following Steven Schumacher’s move to Stoke.
The Pilgrims cruised to the League One title last season but still have plenty of work to do if they are to preserve their second tier status.
The upcoming fixtures against Rotherham, QPR, Stoke and Millwall could be season-defining for the Devon club as they battle against the drop.
Morgan Whittaker’s performances have been key for Plymouth this season, having found the net 18 times in the league so far.
STOKE CITY
Current position: 19th
Form: LWLWL
Remaining fixtures: Hull (A), Huddersfield (H), West Brom (H), Swansea (A), Sheffield Wednesday (A), Plymouth (H), Southampton (A), Bristol City (H)
It has been a challenging season at Stoke but the recent victories against Middlesbrough and Preston have given the Potters hope that they can get out of trouble.
Schumacher received plenty of plaudits for his work at Plymouth but had a difficult start to his time at the bet365 Stadium after replacing Alex Neil.
The Stoke head coach is set to come up against his former side on April 20 – a fixture that could potentially have a big impact on the relegation battle.
The Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday matches also look big on paper, while there are tough tests coming up against the likes of West Brom and Southampton.
QUEENS PARK RANGERS
Current position: 20th
Form: DLDWW
Remaining fixtures: Birmingham (H), Swansea (A), Sheffield Wednesday (H), Plymouth (A), Hull (A), Preston (H), Leeds (H), Coventry (A)
QPR were five points adrift when Marti Cifuentes took charge in October but now find themselves a couple of places above the drop zone heading into the final block of games.
The Hoops stunned promotion hopefuls Leicester earlier this month, making a statement to their relegation rivals.
Since then, they have taken a couple of points against West Brom and Sunderland and will fancy their chances against Birmingham on Good Friday.
The London outfit will be keen to get points on the board ahead of a tough end to the season, with their final four opponents all sitting in the top nine.
BIRMINGHAM CITY
Current position: 21st
Form: LLLDL
Remaining fixtures: QPR (A), Preston (H), Leicester (A), Cardiff (H), Coventry (H), Rotherham (A), Huddersfield (A), Norwich (H)
It has certainly been an eventful season at Birmingham. Eustace started the campaign in the dugout but was sacked to bring in Wayne Rooney – a decision that received a major backlash from sections of the fan base.
Rooney lasted just 83 days in charge before he was replaced by Tony Mowbray. However, it was announced in February that the former Rovers boss would be taking a step back to receive medical treatment.
Assistant manager Mark Venus has led the team in Mowbray’s absence but results have been poor over the past month.
Birmingham have now turned to former boss Gary Rowett for the final eight games in the hope that he can steer the club to safety.
HUDDERSFIELD TOWN
Current position: 22nd
Form: DLLDW
Remaining fixtures: Coventry (H), Stoke (A), Millwall (H), Preston (A), Bristol City (A), Swansea (H), Birmingham (H), Ipswich (A)
It is tight at the bottom of the table and Huddersfield find themselves in the bottom three on goal difference.
The Terriers are another club who have switched managers in recent months, with Andre Breitenreiter succeeding Darren Moore at the John Smith’s Stadium.
There was plenty of optimism when the new boss oversaw a 2-1 win at Watford in his first game in charge on February 24.
However, the Yorkshire club have failed to build on that performance and are without victory in their last four games.
SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY
Current position: 23rd
Form: LLWWW
Remaining fixtures: Swansea (H), Middlesbrough (A), QPR (A), Norwich (H), Stoke (H), Rovers (A), West Brom (H), Sunderland (A)
Sheffield Wednesday were written off heavily after winning just one of their opening 11 matches under Xisco Munoz.
However, the Owls have picked up since Danny Rohl’s arrival in October to give themselves a chance of getting out of danger in the final eight games.
Rohl’s side secured a vital three points against Plymouth at Hillsborough earlier this month. However, their confidence was rocked following a 6-0 drubbing at Ipswich before the international break.
Wednesday head to Ewood Park April 20. They also have QPR and Stoke to play before the end of the season as they aim to pull off a great escape.
ROTHERHAM UNITED
Current position: 24th
Form: DLLLL
Remaining fixtures: Preston (A), Millwall (H), Plymouth (H), West Brom (A), Swansea (A), Birmingham (H), Bristol City (A), Cardiff (H)
It has been a nightmare season for Rotherham, who need a near miraculous turn of events to even have a chance of survival.
The Millers are 19 points adrift heading into final block of games and have won just three league games all season, conceding 77 goals in the process.
Leam Richardson was brought in following Matt Taylor’s sacking, but the change has made little difference to results.
Rotherham’s last win was against Middlesbrough on Boxing Day. They also beat Norwich and Coventry earlier in the campaign.
