John Eustace understands Blackburn Rovers fans' frustrations over a lack of victories but insists picking up points regularly will keep them in the Championship.
Rovers have not won any of Eustace's first six league matches, losing twice and drawing the other four. The 1-1 stalemate with Millwall saw supporters vent their frustration at dropping points in what many viewed as a winnable match.
Saturday's clash with Plymouth Argyle fits the same billing with the pressure ramped up by Rovers' tough run-in. However, only six points separate 23rd and 12th, making it as tight as ever.
Eustace feels the growing frustration from the terraces but insists picking up points, even if the performance aren't beautiful, can ensure survival.
VERDICT: Rovers must rediscover forgotten habit
"Of course, we want to win but it's important we keep picking points up," he stressed.
"We could have quite easily lost. Millwall are on a good run, a good team, a very solid Championship team at this level. They make it very difficult for the opponent.
"To go 1-0 down just after half-time, the most pleasing thing for me is the character the group have shown. The subs that came on made a big impact.
"We need some real positivity around the place. The positive thing is this group are fighting for the football club, everyone wants to stay in the league.
"Everyone should be very proud of the efforts since we came in. We want to win games but we also want to be difficult to play against and change the momentum of the form.
"We want the fans to be proud of the performance. We won't play beautiful flowing football at the moment but we have to keep picking up points like we did tonight against a good Championship team.
"We want to win games. There is a lot of football still to come, a lot of teams who are down from 10th spot could be involved in the relegation fight.
"We have to take care of ourselves and keep taking vital points like we did tonight. The boys believe in what we are doing, that's been evident since I came in."
He added: "I understand the fans' frustration but we are taking steps forward. They have been magnificent since I came in. Everyone is frustrated but the support they have shown the team has been brilliant.
"We need everyone to stick together if we're going to stay in the league."
Rovers' play in the final third was a disappointment against Millwall with the team unable to break down their opponent's rigid low block.
Eustace hopes that more time on the training ground, which is coming up after eight games in 24 days, will help them solve their issues in attack.
"We have to show more belief in the final third," Eustace reflected.
"It's important we keep putting the ball in the right areas. We need to improve in the final third which I have spoken about already since I came in.
"We don't get much time on the training field because of the amount of games. Hopefully, that will come when the games slow down a bit.
"It's difficult but we kept plugging away. We didn't create enough chances in the final third but we showed good character to come from a point down and it is a vital point."
