Here's how The Lancashire Telegraph scored the players' performances, with a six representing par for the course.

Aynsley Pears - 7

Didn't have a lot to do other than pick the ball out of his net twice. Pulled off an important save at the end to preserve a point by denying Browne.

Dom Hyam - 7

Won a lot of headers at the back post as North End slugged crosses in. Rock-solid in open play.

Kyle McFadzean - 7

Won plenty of balls in the air, though will be disappointed with the equaliser which wasn't dealt with. A few timely blocks and interceptions

Scott Wharton - 7

Again won plenty in the air after returning to the side. Looks set to get a run now on that side.

Callum Brittain - 7

Tried to get up and support the attack when he could. Lovely assist for Gallagher's goal.

Sondre Tronstad - 6

Poor in spells and better in others. At times, he put his foot on the ball and gave Rovers control but gave it away too.

John Fleck - 6

Lasted just 17 minutes on his Rovers debut. Went into a full-blood challenge, came out ok but then appeared to kick the ground and didn't recover.

Ryan Hedges - 6

Didn't have much opportunity to get forward but stuck to his guns defensively against the lively Millar. Has managed to come through three games in a week after so long out.

Tyrhys Dolan - 6

Largely on the periphery of the game. Worked hard but wasn't really involved from an attacking sense.

Sam Szmodics - 7

Took his 18th goal of the season really well, making no mistake. Worked his proverbials off for the team.

Sam Gallagher - 8

Another proper workhorse performance. Ran the line brilliantly and poked past Woodman to put Rovers two ahead.

Substitutes:

Jake Garrett (Fleck, 17') - 5

Struggled to get to the pace of the game in the first half but improved after half-time.

Arnor Sigurdsson (Dolan, 63') - 5

Didn't make an impact and there were a few occasions where he didn't get control of simple balls.

Ben Chrisene (Hedges, 63') - 6

Solid at left-wing-back. Got up and down.

Unused substitutes: Wahlstedt, O'Riordan, Ayari, Moran, Markanday, Telalovic.
