John Eustace is open to reintegrating Lewis Travis into the Blackburn Rovers first team after his loan with Ipswich Town.

The Rovers skipper left Ewood Park early in the January transfer window after a lack of playing time under Jon Dahl Tomasson.

Travis wanted to play as a holding midfielder, rather than the more advanced role he was used in by the Dane, and wanted more guarantees of regular minutes.

Rovers agreed to sanction a loan move and now after a change of head coach, the captain could have a big role to play in the Eustace era next season.

Eustace hasn't spoken directly with Travis yet but plans to hold talks with him in the future.

"I haven't spoken to him yet, we can't bring him back at the moment," Eustace told The Lancashire Telegraph.

"He's a player that I have admired over the years, he's been a very good player at the level. It's something we'll have a chat about over the summer."

After starting Ipswich's first two matches after arriving at the club, Travis' minutes have fried up at Portman Road. He was an unused substitute against Preston North End and West Brom before getting 14 minutes in a 4-0 win at Millwall in midweek.

Travis has two years left on the contract he signed with Rovers which runs until 2026.
