Here's how The Lancashire Telegraph scored the players' performances, with a six representing par for the course.
Aynsley Pears - 8
Made a crucial penalty save to keep out Johnson early in the second half. A really important moment in the game.
Dom Hyam - 7
Solid at right-centre-back before moving to the left. Won his aerial duels and was happy to go back to front quicker.
Kyle McFadzean - 7
Won his headers, talked and organised from the middle of the defence. Ended the game with a head bandage which summed up his warrior-like display.
Ben Chrisene - 7
Adjusted well to playing left-centre-back. Moved back out to wing-back after the reshuffle. Looks to be growing into Championship football.
Callum Brittain - 8
Fantastic delivery for Dolan's opener. Played a role in the second too. Adjudged to have brought down Vidigal for a penalty and was quieter in the second half.
Sondre Tronstad - 7
Kept things ticking in midfield and broke up play. Nearly scored with a deflected, dipping volley.
Joe Rankin-Costello - 6
Added some energy and legs into the centre of midfield after a few games in defence. Won tackles and put himself about.
Sam Szmodics - 7
A real nuisance in the side of Stoke City, particularly first half. Great anticipation to nod in Hedges' header back over.
Ryan Hedges - 7
A fantastic effort, particularly considering how long he's been out. Got an assist as he nodded Brittain's cross back over for Szmodics to score.
Tyrhys Dolan - 9
Took both of his goal really well but his off-ball work was also superb. Pressed and harassed the Stoke defenders. Really impressive display.
Sam Gallagher - 8
Ran himself into the ground up front. Could've scored with a left-footed strike but set one up for Dolan with a clever flick-on.
Substitutes:
Jake Garrett (Rankin-Costello 65') - 6
Added some more energy into the midfield. Won a few tackles.
Semir Telalovic (Gallagher, 65') - 5
Had a couple of opportunities to pull the trigger but either didn't or took too long.
Connor O'Riordan (Hedges, 67') - 6
On for his debut on the right side of the back three.
Andrew Moran (Dolan, 85') - N/A
On as a late change.
Arnor Sigurdsson (Szmodics, 85') - N/A
Late double switch along with Moran.
Unused substitutes: Wahlstedt, Fleck, Ayari, Markanday.
Referee: Gavin Ward
Attendance: 15,104
