Jack Vale made an immediate impact at Motherwell, scoring on his debut during a 5-0 win against Ross County.
The 22-year-old headed on loan to the Scottish Premiership side last month following a stint at Lincoln earlier in the campaign.
Vale came off the bench for the final nine minutes and scored in stoppage time, slotting home from close range.
Georgie Gent also played the full 90 minutes and got an assist, while ex-Rovers defender James Brown featured for the visitors.
Blair Spittal bagged a brace for Stuart Kettlewell’s side, with Andy Halliday and Theo Bair also getting on the scoresheet.
After the final whistle, the Motherwell boss said: “It is a top-drawer performance. To beat any team in this league 5-0, you are playing well.
“I felt you saw what was an accumulation of what I feel has been some good performances. Sometimes you feel as if you are patronising supporters and people in the media, but I genuinely do believe we were working towards a win.
“We have been functioning well as a team, six unbeaten now, and that puts a nice finish to it with the five goals.
“But probably the ruthless side of me says that it could and should have been several more. We had some wonderful opportunities.
“The ruthless side of me says that we still want to work towards a better conversion rate, but I have just reminded everyone it is one game of football.”
The result sees Motherwell climb to eighth in the table – only a point behind sixth-place Dundee, who have two games in hand.
Kettlewell’s side are back in action on Friday night when they head to Greenock Morton in the Scottish Cup fifth round.
